The 3d and the 4th performances from our group!

Spichka” Public Speaking Club | American Cultural Center

So, on this week, we have 2 new performances and 2 new speakers! :) They were Anastasya Podluzhnyak and Natasha Yanina. The speakers had interesting speeches and now, as usually, I'll to evaluate them.

The 1st was Anastasya and the theme of her performance was "Preparing Your Speech"


1. Introduction: ( 10 points)
·         What technique(s) was used in the introduction? The speaker used the technique "asking questions". I decided that her introduction was powerful. And it inspired me to hear all performance with attention. 
·         Any link-element? Yes, the link-element was given clearly and was logically connected the attention-getter and the thesis statement.
·         Was the thesis statement given? "I'll focus on the following points:
· clarifying your purpose;
· setting out clear, measurable objectives;
· researching your topic."
·         How effective was the introduction?

·         How well structured was the information presented?

·         What organizational structure was used in the body of the speech? The speaker used outlining. It was main headings, supporting materials and details (Thank for it! It helped me to understand the information clearly). Also the speech had transitions and signposts which showed how all the parts of speech fit together.

3. Conclusion: (10 points)
·         What technique(s) was used in the conclusion? It was the quote of Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes " He who is prepared for the fight has half won." and the question for thinking. 
·         Were all the steps followed (summary, action, emotional appeal?) Yes.
Summary:
To sum up, clarifying your purpose, setting out clear, measurable objectives and researching your topic are the main steps.
Action:
 believe you have become aware of the importance of preparing a speech for a successful performance. Remember the questions I suggested below, if you answer them, I am sure that you will not have any difficulties in it. 
Emotional appeal:
Don't be afraid, but try! Just think about the quote by Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes " He who is prepared for the fight has half won." Do you agree with it?

·         What technique(s) was used in the introduction? At the begining of the perfomances, Natasha put cards on the table and said the theme of the perfomances. I think she used a technique "making references"

·         Was the thesis statement given? "Let’s come to the point. Today we will speak about HOW to create new product. In fact, there are a lot of ways or methods of creativity development"
·         How effective was the introduction?

·         What technique(s) was used in the conclusion?
·         Were all the steps followed (summary, action, emotional appeal?) I think that the summary was not geven. 
Action:
 Of course there are more than 3 strategies. I suppose you can find the information in the internet or in the different books.
It is really important to use some methods to develop you creativity and you have lots of them to do it. Please, just remember.
Emotional appeal was not so powerful, I may say.
